Pegasus
has arrived in the UK
Pegasus is now back in the Solent after an interesting Transatlantic. Accompanied by NIc Cutler, we set off from Grenada early July, and after a quick stop in Martinique ( fruit and vegetables) we rounded the southern tip of the island to break the Caribbean chain. Not the best move, With strong winds, tidal and seabed influence, we experienced 48 hours of filthy weather, Pegasus performed well, but it was a rough ride, and we were both glad when the weather moderated and we could settle down in to the passage. With a growing high pressure system in mid Atlantic we made north, eventually being 350nm SE of Newfoundland, skirting the ever growing high trying to get onto the NE side, which we finally managed at 14W!!!. Winds were light with no more than 14 kts, but mostly 8-12 kts, but Pegasus is a great light wind boat and we managed to make good time, with a 22.5 day crossing to Cowes, and less than a days motoring. I am very glad that we have a large spinnaker, which pulled us some 3000 of the 4145 miles sailed. Amanda and the boys arrived in the UK a week later after delays caused by Tropical Storm Chantal, and we are now back on board trying to make sense of our move from the Caribbean to a changed but sunny England.

Pegasus now has a CE mark, (The CE marking is the manufacturer's declaration that the product meets the requirements of the applicable EC directives...Yawn...) and we have imported Pegasus into the UK. As such Pegasus will be available for completion of sale on July 1st 2014., so we are open to any interested parties who would like to make further inquiries.
After a full internal and external refit she is ready to go.

A note on performance.
Pegasus is a fast, safe and steady passagemaker. Her max speed to date is 28.4kts, but on a trade wind passage we can expect some 1300 - 1500 miles a week sailing conservatively with all the family enjoying the experience. Greater mileage is easily achievable.

We hauled Pegasus here in Grenada, in March 2013 after some 15 months in the water. At the same time we took the opportunity to have a hull survey by a SAMS surveyor, (to reduce a potential buyers costs of survey and haul) and that survey is available if you are seriously intrested. In addition a rig inspection was completed and all was found to be well
The Boat
Pegasus is a Chris White designed Atlantic 46 See http://www.chriswhitedesigns.com/atlantic_cats/a46/ She was built by a wealthy amateur aircraft builder in a heated warehouse on his estate and launched in New Hampshire in 1997. Since launch she cut her teeth between the Bahamas and New Hampshire, and is the first Chris White design to successfully complete a circumnavigation (2011) Since then she has had a full internal and external refit
The last 5 years
We are a family of four who have spent the last 5 years on board Pegasus, as we have sailed around the world and had many amazing adventures. We have now completed our circumnavigation that saw us sail from Norfolk Virginia, down the Inter-coastal waterway, over to the Bahamas and back to England. We left the UK again after a 6 weeks stop and headed to the Caribbean via the Canaries. Heading West, we had Christmas 2008 in Grenada, and pushed on to Panama via Cartagenia and the San Blas islands. April 2009 saw us through the Panama Canal and on to Australia via the Marquesas, Tuamotu's, Society's, N Cooks, Tonga, Fiji and New Caledonia. Christmas 2009 was spent in Sydney and we pushed South via the Bass Straight and West to Perth via the Great Australian Bight. Cruising up the West coast saw us in Shark bay and through the Ningaloo reef and on to Darwin via the Kimberley. In July 2010 we headed up to Indonesia and had Christmas 2010 in Phuket Thailand. Leaving early in the new year we headed to Sri Lanka and on to the Maldives where Amanda and the Boys flew back to the UK while i sailed Pegasus up to Port Ghalib in Egypt via Aden. After a whirlwind trip through the Mediterranean we arrived back in Cowes, Isle of Wight in August 2011. After a month or so we headed via Morocco to the Canaries for a refit, and on to the Caribbean for 2012.
